    The purpose of the Roundtables is to draw upon member's attitudes,feelings, experiences and reactions regarding the Academy's current programs in order to better meet the needs of today's PAs

    On October 25th groups will focus on:

    • Communication, website and social media - Are members getting the message?

    • CME - What do you need and how can RIAPA provide it?

    Each Roundtable  will consist of up to 10 PAs ann/or students who will meet with a facilitator to answer questions, discuss and make recommendations.

    • Office-based reimbursement:
    • When is an office/clinic not really an office/clinic?
      • Billing under the PA/APRN or the physician – what makes sense?
      • Understanding “incident to” billing - when it can and can’t be used
      • Enrolling and credentialing with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers\ 
      • Definition of collaboration-what it does and doesn’t mean
      • Maximizing revenue - how practices can potentially increase revenue when billing under the PA/APRN

    • Understanding PA productivity, utilization and contributions

    • PAs/APRNs and the transition to value based care

    •  Hospital-based reimbursement:
    • Review of hospital billing policies
    • Shared visit billing – understanding all the requirements
    • PA/APRN responsibilities admission orders, admit H&Ps and discharge summaries
    • Credentialing/privileging – comparing Mediare’s rules to your hospital’s policies
    • Statutes, regulations and payer policies – which rules to follow?


    At the conclusion of this session attendees will be able to:

    •  Explain the regulatory and coverage policy requirements for PA and APRN reimbursement in clinics, hospitals and hospital-owned facilities.
    • Identify the unique rules surrounding “incident to” and shared visit billing.
    •  Describe the components of delivery system change that will impact PAs and other health professionals as payment systems transition to value-based reimbursement.  
    •  Evaluate PA/APRN productivity in both economic and non-economic terms, and demonstrate their contribution to increased practice efficiency.
    • Discuss how to reduce the possibility of fraud and abuse audits.

    This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to request 3 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the AAPA Review Panel. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined.

    APRNs may  claim AAPA Category 1 CME credit as continuing education with AANP and ANCC. RIAPA recommends APRNs check with their certification/licensing authority to confirm that AAPA credit is acceptable.
